The four-star Marriott Marquis San Diego Marina is the official CREF 2021 hotel. Our reservation portal is now active, so remember to make your reservations early if you’re planning to attend this fall.

New Year’s Wishes from CREF

CREF 2021 knows that COVID-19 has disrupted everyone’s lives. And although 2020 has been difficult in ways we never could have anticipated, we feel hopeful that medical advances will help curb the COVID-19 pandemic so that in 2021, we will find ourselves returning to a safer, more socially fulfilling life. That includes meeting once again, face to face, in the fall. While we recognize that conditions might worsen before they improve, everyone at CREF sends you their warmest wishes for a better New Year.

CREF CME + CEU Totals Awarded

CREF CME Credit & CEUs for the Entire Cardiac OR Team

CREF CME credit and CEU credits have been awarded by the accredited organizations listed below. All CREF continuing-education includes Category 1 CME and CEU credits.

The American Board of Cardiovascular Perfusion and the California Board of Registered Nursing allot 44.1 Category 1 CEUs to perfusionists and nurses in attendance.

The Institute for Medical Studies designates this live activity for a maximum of 27.25 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)™ for physiciansin attendance. The American Academy of Physician Assistants (AAPA) accepts AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ from ACCME-accredited organizations.

Swain Scholarship Winner Announced

Swain Scholarship Winner: Kali Begum RN BSN

CREF 2019 Mini-BrochureCongratulations to Kali Begum RN BSN, who has been selected from a pool of highly qualified applicants to receive the CREF 2019 Swain Scholarship. CREF Program Committee members award this scholarship to the top perfusion student or recent graduate.

Prior to entering perfusion school, Begum worked as a cardiothoracic ICU nurse. She is currently pursuing a Master of Science in Cardiovascular Perfusion degree from the Medical University of South Carolina and expects to graduate in May 2020. Begum will present the following original research at this year’s conference: “Is Goal-Directed Perfusion Using Lean Body Weight Predictive of Acute Kidney Injury? A Retrospective Review.”

Free Hands-On Workshops at CREF

CREF Hands-On Workshops: A Feature of “Attendee-Choice” Afternoons

CREF hands-on workshops — a meeting highlight since 2006 — provide experiential education, a welcome break from PowerPoint presentations, and additional CEUs — at no added cost:

  • “[Workshops were] by far the best educational experience. Hands on great.”
  • “Another great meeting! I love the hands-on workshops.”
  • “I like that . . . [at CREF] there are hands-on things to do compared to other meetings.”
