California reopens June 15 because cases are low and vaccinations ahead of schedule, according to California Governor Gavin Newsom. In his announcement Tuesday, April 6, Newsom confirmed that California could lift most statewide COVID-19 restrictions by June 15 if vaccine supply is sufficient and hospitalizations remain low.
For conventions, that means that when California reopens, indoor gatherings greater than 100 people will be allowed, provided that participants wear face masks. International convention attendees will be allowed only if fully vaccinated.
In light of this welcome news about California reopening, the CREF Planning Committee is excited to be moving forward with plans for a live meeting and is working closely with the Marriott Marquis San Diego Marina to create a safe and memorable 40th anniversary celebration. We hope you’ll join us this fall!
